One reviewer says their daughter “changes the color multiple times every day - super fun and unexpected.” In addition to the night light, reviewers like how compact this light is. One parent, who bought this for their seven-year-old, says, “It stays on long enough for him to fall asleep and if he wakes in the middle of the night he can easily turn the light back on.” It’s a hit with another reviewer, who keeps it in a guest room: “The night light feature is so helpful for guests to move around in an unfamiliar house at night.” Users can also choose between seven colors for the night light, depending on your mood or decor, which dozens admit is cool. I LOVE IT.” They describe the sound as “effective but not jarring,” and add that they “like the nice solid and satisfying click of the button when you set the time.”Ībout a quarter of reviewers love this alarm clock because of its built-in night light that’s both very bright and shifts colors. Another says, “I expected this clock to be okay, based on the reviews, but it is so MUCH better. And, while basic, customers like that that clock includes “a bright night light at the top for reading in bed.” This beep’s job is to awaken, not comfort, and reviewers note that it is not a pleasant, soft tune: “Alarm is loud even on low and an awful sound,” says one. As one puts it, “If, like me, you like the alarm right by your bedside, the dimmer allows you to set the brightness to your comfort level - all the way from exceedingly bright to exceedingly dim.” “ou can even make the display go completely dark,” adds another. Reviewers also say the dimmer is especially effective. “What I like about the clock are the large numbers, so very easy to read” writes a typical reviewer, echoing hundreds of similar declarations. There are nearly 12,000 verified five-star fans of this simple, effective electric alarm clock with battery back-up on Amazon.

When receiving messages, apps will need to connect to WhatsApp’s servers. To send messages, third-party apps will need to encrypt content using the Signal Protocol and then package it into message stanzas in the eXtensible Markup Language (XML). Other than its namesake app and the Meta-owned messengers, the Signal Protocol is publicly disclosed as being used in Google Messages and Skype. With just a few weeks to go before that time is up, WhatsApp is detailing how its interoperability with other apps may work.īrouwer says Meta would prefer if other apps use the Signal encryption protocol, which its systems are based upon. In September, European, lawmakers designated WhatsApp parent Meta as one of six influential “gatekeeer” companies under its sweeping Digital Markets Act, giving it six months to open its walled garden to others. It isn’t a shift entirely of WhatsApp’s own making. The move is the first time the chat app has opened itself up this way, and it potentially offers greater competition. At least, that's the plan.įor about the past two years, WhatsApp has been building a way for other messaging apps to plug themselves into its service and let people chat across apps-all without breaking the end-to-end encryption it uses to protect the privacy and security of people’s messages. Soon, though, WhatsApp will do the previously unthinkable for its 2 billion users: allow people to message you from another app. Messenger, iMessage, WhatsApp, Signal-they all exist in their own silos of group chats and contacts. A frequent annoyance of contemporary life is having to shuffle through different messaging apps to reach the right person. I guess he had some obligation to get through the song, but frankly, it’s heartbreaking when he has to interrupt her. If Paul Simon had any heart, then he’d have been highly conflicted about stealing the limelight from Leslie. At every lull in the lyrics, Leslie cuts back in with her improvisations. Simon himself seemed utterly charmed, but at about the 25-second mark, he realizes that he has a job to do and cuts in.Īt that point, the easy-listening song, being performed on a kids' show no less, becomes a battle of wills. She was more than a little off-key but utterly charming. The characters already featured in digital and printed storybooks, but will debut on TV next month. Hes always been a great performer, but this video in particular is so adorable Safet Satara. In 1977, when Paul Simon appeared on Sesame Street to perform his 1972 hit “Me And Julio Down By The Schoolyard,” he sat on the famous 123 Sesame Street stoop next to a little girl named Leslie, who improvised her own lyrics. Sesame Street has introduced its latest muppet - a little girl called Julia, who has autism. Paul Simon plays perfect version of ‘Me and Julio Down by the Schoolyard’ on Sesame Street. Especially if that TV show is a showcase of the uniqueness of children’s minds. I guess the reason is because they can be unpredictable. They say to never work with kids or animals. However, when the treatment is prolonged too long in time, it can interfere with the function of the colon. This is a substance that acts as a stimulant of the intestine’s peristaltic movements. The recommended dose is 0.6 milliliters per kilogram of the dog’s body weight. In pets, it’s used to soften stool and treat constipation. It’s often used to reduce ammonia levels when there are liver problems in humans. This is a disaccharide (sugar) osmotic laxative and ammonia reducer. The recommended dose of this product is 5 milliliters per 5 kilograms of body weight of the dog. It works in a way that lubricates the walls of the intestine and softens the stool (like an emollient) to facilitate its expulsion. Below are some examples of each of the types of laxatives for dogs, as well as the recommended dosage according to the original product insert. In veterinary medicine, three types of laxatives are used: lubricants, osmotic, and stimulants of peristalsis movement that help to encourage the transit of feces in the intestine. This choice is made bearing in mind several factors, such as the size of the fecal accumulation or the length of time the animal has been constipated.

If you want to create a fun presentation then, depending on the content, a slab sans serif, minimalist, or retro-inspired font could work. Fonts are a major part of creating the right tone of voice, so they should line up with the personality of your presentation. PersonalityĪ legible font doesn’t have to be dull. You should also make sure the actual shapes in the font aren’t too wild, making them hard to read. If they’re too far apart then it’s hard to distinguish individual words from each other. If they’re too close, it’s hard on the eyes. You can’t adjust kerning (the gaps between individual letters) in Slides, so you need to choose a font with a decent amount of space between each glyph. If the content’s complex, you want to pick a font that’s super legible. They hold information that you want your audience to read and take in effortlessly. Of course, your slides should be legible and easy to understand. Don’t worry, this doesn’t mean you have to shy away from bold fonts, or stick to one classic font all the time. Your font should complement the content and visuals in your presentation, not overshadow them. Text forms a core part of most presentations, so why shouldn’t your chosen font be as fabulous as the rest of your deck? While most people don’t analyse fonts with the precision or the tension of those in the American Psycho business card scene, and neither do we (we like to keep it more light-hearted), a great font can contribute to the overall appeal of your slides and shouldn’t be an afterthought. First is the straight up polar way, and the second is the parametric way. So there are two ways to graph polar in desmos. Especially since it only took 10 minutes of classtime!Īs an aside, I love that when I tweeted this out, a tweep said he was going to be doing this in his class after his kids learn about circles. It’s a slightly different way to appreciate the power of math, and I am good for that. I just wanted kids to play, like I played, and get excited, like I got excited. But it is a way to get kids to appreciate the power of polar when they are done working with polar, and what sorts of different kinds of graphs compared to the boring ol’ rectangular coordinate system. Now I want to be frank: there isn’t much “learning” that happens when kids are doing this assignment. I didn’t think too much about math while making my graphs, however I thought about math a lot in order to observe and think about patterns I found in my graphs. I felt that I learned a lot about polar through it. I really enjoyed doing this assignment. Once I finished my multi-equation graph, I looked at the clock on my computer and realized I had been working on it for nearly 20 minutes it had seemed like maybe 5. I had so much more fun doing this than I thought I would, honestly.I spent a lot more time on this than I thought I would, and I feel like I’ll probably spend more time on this trying to find a really cool design I like (and possibly gaining a better understanding why the graphs look the way they do…). Messing around with the graphs was actually more entertaining than I thought it would be.It is so fun when art and math intersect, I loved it!!!!! I think this was so awesome! I love art and this felt like art to me.I also am a bit curious if you had any mathematical thought as you were playing on Desmos? You don’t have to say what thoughts you had (if any) - just if you had any.”Įvery student responded positively. Y’all tend to be honest when I ask for feedback, and I appreciate it! I genuinely want to know. I want to know if you enjoyed doing it or not. I asked my kids, when submitting their artwork, “This is something new I came up with this year. I think when I announce the winners, I’ll have the class go to the board, have everyone point out a few that they like, and then I’ll make my grand pronouncement. I expected everyone to love the same ones I do. And what I’ve found fascinating is that so far, very few kids pick the same polar art pieces as their favorites. Kids from my class, but also kids from other grades. I want to just let them appreciate the work of their classmates for now.Īfter creating the bulletin board, I’ve seen kids look at the artwork. I haven’t yet told my kids who the winners are. So I added an optional third animated polar graph category. However, some students were animating the sliders and coming up with fun animations (like this or this… watch both for a while). And students needed to create the coolest polar art using multiple equations. Students needed to create the coolest polar graph with one equation. Then I showed kids a google doc which had all the info for the contest - and the link to the google form to submit their entries. Some who were getting boring graphs saw the cool graphs their classmates were getting and were inspired to mix things up since they knew they could make neat things. They gasped and turned their screens to show their friends. They got excited by what they were seeing. They dug into old functions they had learned about. Then I gave everyone 7 minutes to just come up with something pretty. Then I might have altered the function a bit more, like and we saw what happened. So for example, if they said, I might have added the slider. I then pulled up desmos and asked my kids to shout out some polar function. So after our unit on polar graphing, I took 10 minutes at the start of class to introduce this idea of a Polar. (Now to be fair, desmos isn’t great with creating great complicated polar graphs… and it’s better to write them parametrically to get a bit more accuracy… so this is a bit of a lie of a graph in that it isn’t totally accurate… but it’s oh so pretty.) Why? Because one day during the polar unit, I started playing around with desmos and accidentally created: This was something I wanted to do after introducing polar graphing. Then I printed them out on photopaper and hung them up. These are polar graphs that students designed using Desmos. “The Boy and the Heron” (Studio Ghibli/Distributed by GKids, Takeshi Honda) Best Character Design – FeatureĪmazon MGM Studios, Warner Bros. “The Peasants” Best Character Animation – Feature “War Is Over!
